Before researching the career of Carol Janeway (1913-1989), I have had several careers. I was a career archaeological/objects conservator, a graduate of the NYU Institute of Fine Arts, Conservation Center, working primarily with waterlogged organics at Parks Canada’s Conservation Division.

My undergraduate degree Classics-Art History was granted by NYU’s Washington Square College. I worked on excavations in Turkey and Greece.  I taught art history at Simon’s Rock of Bard College for 5 years. I worked on George Douglass’ armour and medieval art collection. Painting and printmaking, one year at NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art & Design).

Skiing, golf, dog. Three children, Erika, Lucy and Peter, and my husband Jim Collins have survived the book.

My next website will be devoted to the tile decorating studios of Manhattan of the 1940s, the Designed Tiles studio of Harold and Lis Ambellan for starters, a natural offshoot of studying Janeway’s career.
